Kanthaswamy: Malayalam rights sold for 2 crores

The Malayalam rights of Tamil actor Vikram's much-anticipated super hero Tamil film Kanthaswamy (also spelt as Kanthasamy or Kandasamy) have been reportedly sold for Rs. 2 crores and its satellite broadcast rights have been secured for a stunning amount of Rs. 4.5 crores. Produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan, Kanthasamy will have its global release in the summer of 2009 (April to June).
Kanthaswamy, filmed in five countries, is reportedly being dubbed into Spanish, Italian and English. It is learnt that Kanthaswamy is a superman-like story with a logical twist. Fantasy and realism are mixed in the plot to make it a commercial entertainer.
The movie has been under production for almost a year. The post-production work is now going on in full swing. All that remains is a flashback scene and a song that will be shot in Italy. Director Susi Ganesan reportedly claimed that another Kanthaswamy would be needed to challenge the might of this film.
Shriya plays the female lead. Vivek, Santhanam, Vinod Raj, Y.G. Mahendran, Arun Mathavan, Vinayak and Alex will be seen in supporting roles. Vikram’s father Vinothraj and Malayalam actor Indrajith (elder brother of actor Prithviraj), play important roles in this film which has music by Devi Sri Prasad
